Athletes wanting to qualify for Osaka Castle Triathlon 2017 event must meet the following criteria.

- Elite Sprint Triathlon Swim 0.75 km | Bike 20 km | Run 5 km
- Age Group Standard Triathlon Swim 1.5 km | Bike 40 km | Run 10 km
- Age Group Sprint Triathlon Swim 0.75 km | Bike 20 km | Run 5 km
- Relay Team Sprint Triathlon (Reserved) Swim 0.75 km | Bike 20 km | Run 5 km
Max. Number of Participants by category
- Elites male: 75, female:75, Total: 150.
- Age Group Standard Distance 450.
- Age Group Sprint Distance 250.
- Relay Team Sprint Distance 70 (50 is reserved.)
